Caleb Flynn's Text Hours Before Ashley Died Said WHAT?!

Caleb Flynn told a 911 dispatcher that a burglar shot his wife, and the state's answer in the first two days of trial was a stack of his own text messages. This is the Caleb Flynn trial through opening statements and twelve prosecution witnesses, for anyone following the American Idol murder case out of Miami County, Ohio. The message that matters most went to his mistress the night before Ashley Flynn died, and it named February 16. Prosecutor Paul Watkins read it to the jury alongside two others sent months earlier, one about killing her without going to jail, one about doing it in a heartbeat if it didn't mean hell. Defense attorney Emily Smith conceded the affair and the messages, framing them as ugly things Caleb said to keep his mistress happy, and argued police found the affair and shoehorned the evidence in after. The state's crime scene agent said the garage door showed damage on the inside only, that it happened while the door was open, and that a refrigerator sat against it. A police dog started at that door and tried three times to go back into the house. The deputy coroner needed to clean the wound and shave the hair back to find both bullet holes; Caleb told 911 there were two shots before anyone examined her. His alibi is that he was lying in his daughters' bunk bed, and the agent said the bottom bunk was too full of stuffed animals for an adult. Those girls will testify in the same room as their father, because the judge denied the state's request for a screen when prosecutors offered no evidence these particular children needed one. Caleb Flynn has pleaded not guilty to aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault and tampering with evidence. The state promised his Apple Watch and phone would show he was up and moving. That evidence hasn't reached the jury.
