"Just a Mason": The Hunter Easterling Sting

He could have been anyone in a Walmart aisle. A 27-year-old Louisiana mason who laid brick floors for a living. But in September 2025, Hunter Easterling drove ten minutes to a house where he believed a 15-year-old girl was home alone. He knew her age. He knew the risks. He knew the registry was waiting. He came anyway, and he took his shoes off at the door. Then Chris told him to have a seat. What follows is a familiar routine of fading memory, shifting ages, and blame aimed at a child who never existed. Asked what should happen to a man who does what he came to do, Easterling, father of a seven-year-old, says he'd shoot him. He has since pleaded guilty and will serve two years in Louisiana state prison, followed by the registry he feared.
