EP129: The Death of Lauren McConniel
When Ryan McConniel married Brittany Lee in October 2007, he brought his daughters from his first marriage with him. Ryan believed that Brittany would make a wonderful stepmother to his girls, and he trusted her to care for them while he worked full-time. Toward the end of 2009, Lauren began exhibiting disturbing behaviors, ones that Brittany blamed on the abuse Lauren supposedly suffered at the hands of her mother. Brittany always had an explanation for bruises and problems Lauren had, and even though Ryan knew better, he turned a blind eye to Lauren's increasing deterioration. Listen to this week's episode to hear more about the sad and terrible death of 5-year-old Lauren McConniel.____________>Enjoy ad-free and early releases of our public episodes PLUS over 100 exclusive private episodes of CRIMES AND CONSEQUENCES bY going to Patreon.com/tntcrimes or Crimesandconsequences.com. EP127: The Ant Hill Kids
In the late 1970s, in Quebec, Canada, a group of young people were looking to find meaning and purpose in their lives. They found that meaning and purpose after meeting a charismatic man named Roch Theriault. Roch was a devoted follower of the Seventh Day Adventist religion, and soon this group of young people decided to cut ties with all of their friends and family, and follow Rock into the wilderness of Quebec to form a new society and way of life from scratch. They soon came to believe that Roch spoke to God and everything he did was as a result of his conversations with God--even when it came to viciously punishing them, or eventually when Roch did things where members ended up dead.THANK YOU to our episode sponsor, Surfshark. EP126: The Burnt House Farm
In 2003, Brian Waters and another man were sadistically tortured for hours in the cowshed of the Burnt House Farm in England. Brian's adult children were forced to watch as a group of men thought up inhumane ways to brutalize their father. One of them, Christopher Guest More, Jr., was a former television researcher who had worked undercover for the BBC only months earlier. Eventually, police arrested five men for the murder, but Christopher managed to evade justice for 16 years, living under an assumed name. During that time, he lived in a mansion on the island of Malta, captained a yacht for the wealthy, drove luxury cars, and even worked with the Moroccan Royal family. How did someone responsible for one of England's most savage murders get away with it for so long? Warning: this case is wickedly gruesome.____________>Enjoy ad-free and early releases of our public episodes PLUS over 100 exclusive private episodes of CRIMES AND CONSEQUENCES bY going to Patreon.com/tntcrimes or Crimesandconsequences.com.
