EP173: No Father of the Year

EP173: No Father of the Year

In the early morning hours of March 19, 1985, Linda Bailey Brown lost her life. When police arrived at the home, her husband, David Arnold Brown answered the door and told them his wife’s body was in their bedroom and that he thought she had been shot. Also living in the home was Linda’s 17-year-old younger sister, Patti, David’s 14-year-old daughter, Cinnamon, from a previous marriage, and David and Linda’s baby daughter, Crystal. However, when the police tried to find Cinnamon they didn’t find her until they looked outside in one of the dog houses in the backyard. Cinnamon was lying in a pool of her own vomit and was clutching a note that said “Dear God, please forgive me. I didn't mean to hurt her.” However, as with most of our stories, things are not always as they seem. Listen to this week’s episode to hear more about the Brown family and what actually happened to Linda Bailey Brown.

EP161: The Grim Sleeper

EP161: The Grim Sleeper

South Central Los Angeles in the late 1980s was a terrible place to be. The area was rampant with crime, drugs, and a struggle to survive. Many women turned to sex work to either help feed their addiction or to feed their families. As many of you know, police tended to turn a blind eye when dead sex workers were found, and they had an attitude like the victims were disposable. Because of this attitude, serial killers often made South Central L.A. their hunting grounds, and Lonnie Franklin, Jr. was one of them. Nicknamed "The Grim Sleeper" due to the extended supposed break he took in killing--Lonnie's true victim count will never be known.Join us on Facebook and IG: @HARDCORETRUECRIMEWeb: www.crimesandconsequences.com-------->Get ad-free early releases of each episode, plus over 170 exclusive Members Only episodes by going to Patreon.com/tntcrimes or joining our Apple Channel on the Apple Podcast App.Sources:1) Murderpedia2) Documentary: Tales of a Grim Sleeper3: Movie: The Grim Sleeper—The Mind of a Monster4) TV Show: World’s Most Evil Killers (Season 5, Episode 1: Lonnie Franklin)5) CNN--https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/30/us/grim-sleeper-dies-death-row6) Rolling Stone--https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-features/grim-sleeper-serial-killer-everything-you-need-to-know-252246/7) LA Times--https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2020-03-29/grim-sleeper-serial-killer-lonnie-franklin-dies-death-row-san-quentin8) All That is Interesting--https://allthatsinteresting.com/grim-sleeper9) Youtube: The Case of Lonnie David Franklin: The Grim Sleeper (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNzPvoZzSq8&t=409s) 10) Youtube: The Infamous Case of Lonnie Franklin Jr. (JCS Inspired) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcf_9Nfva_E) 11) LAPD Online--https://www.lapdonline.org/newsroom/serial-murder-case-update-grim-sleeper-responsible-for-12-victims-between-1985-and-2007/12) LA Times--https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1987-12-03-me-26306-story.html13) History Daily--https://historydaily.org/grim-sleeper-facts-stories-trivia/614) Oxygen--https://www.oxygen.com/mark-of-a-serial-killer/crime-news/who-was-grim-sleeper-serial-killer-lonnie-franklin

Amazon Music Presents SUSPECT: Vanished in the Snow

Amazon Music Presents SUSPECT: Vanished in the Snow

For more than three and a half decades, the disappearance of 12-year-old Jonelle Matthews was a mystery – a riddle neither authorities nor her family members could solve. The residents of her cloistered Colorado hometown had scoured every inch of the prairie. Jonelle’s face had been on milk cartons nationwide. Even the President of the United States had appealed to the public for help. Still, every lead had fizzled. Every person of interest had turned out to be a dead end. Then, in 2019, Jonelle’s remains were unearthed near the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. With the discovery came a troubling new question: Had the truth been hiding in plain sight the entire time? Was the man who couldn’t stop obsessing over Jonelle’s disappearance also the person who took her? From Campside Media and Wondery comes season two of SUSPECT. Former CNN reporter Ashley Fantz and executive producers Matthew Shaer and Eric Benson (Suspect, Over My Dead Body) dig into one of the most mind-bending cold cases in modern history, in an attempt to separate fact and fiction, compulsion from guilt, and true-crime fandom from a motive for murder. Hey Prime Members, listen to the Amazon Music exclusive podcast, SUSPECT: Vanished in the Snow, in the Amazon Music App. Download the app today. http://www.amazon.com/SUS_us_pfd_AA_110122.

Neville and June Bamber were killed along with their 6-year-old grandchildren, twins Nicholas and Daniel. The twins’ mother, 28-year-old Sheila was also found dead, and at first, the police believed that Sheila annihilated her family and then killed herself. EP157: Jane Doe #59

EP157: Jane Doe #59

The body of a young woman was found on November 16, 1969, off Mulholland Drive in Los Angeles, California, only a few short miles from where The Manson Family had murdered several people that summer. The woman had no ID and no significant identifying marks, and while the Los Angeles Police Department tried to discover her identity, they were unsuccessful. The woman was given the moniker Jane Doe 59. Jane Doe 59 and another woman, Marina Habe, whose body was found in January 1969, would be cold cases for the LAPD and would cause them to wonder if they were victims of The Manson Family or had met their ends via some other violent means. Listen to this week’s episode to hear more about these two cases and whether Jane Doe 59’s identity was ever made.
