In February of 1928, Stewart Northcott would commit his first known murder. He would go on to become a serial killer, who preyed on adolescent boys. Stewart lived on a chicken ranch in Wineville, CA (now named Mira Loma). The ranch would become a house of horrors for his victims, which included his own nephew. Shockingly, Stewart’s crimes became a family affair, with his mother playing a prominent role in carrying out the brutal slayings that occurred on the chicken ranch. The chicken coop murders have inspired movies and tv shows, and motivated a community to change its name in order to wash away the memories of what happened there. The triple homicide, known as the “Halloween Massacre,” occurred in Pasadena, California in 1993. As rare as violent crimes are in Pasadena, the Halloween Massacre was the second triple homicide in the City in less than a three-year time span. On Friday, March 22, 1991, at about 2:30 in the morning, Pasadena police received a call asking them to do a welfare check at a posh home located on the 1300th block of Fairlawn Way. Officers arrived about 18 minutes later to find three deceased teenage girls. The brutal crime scene would haunt the lead detective until his dying day.
