The Haunting Behind the Basement Wall | After Midnight

Eric never thought much about the occasional knock from his basement or the light that sometimes seemed to turn itself on. Then he began renovating.

Behind a massive shelving unit, he discovered a section of wall that had been deliberately sealed. Inside was a hidden compartment containing burned candles, old photographs, bones, folded papers, and a wooden box marked with an unfamiliar symbol.

Eric didn’t know what any of it meant, and he wasn’t interested in jumping to conclusions about what had taken place there.

But after he opened the wall, the activity inside the house changed. The knocking became louder. Footsteps moved beneath his bedroom. Doors opened on their own.

And years earlier, someone else had heard the same things.
