Nancy Guthrie’s Family Got THIS Text About Mexico

A text message reached Nancy Guthrie’s family on September 28 claiming she’s alive and being held in Mexico. Bitcoin was demanded. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department rejected it within 24 hours. A retired FBI agent identified it as a known scam recycled from months earlier.

It’s been eight months since Nancy Guthrie, 84, was taken from her home in the Catalina Foothills outside Tucson. Her daughter Annie and son-in-law Tommaso Cioni dropped her off after dinner on the evening of January 31. By the early hours of February 1, Nancy’s blood was on the front porch, her doorbell camera had been disabled, and her pacemaker had lost contact with her phone.

The FBI pulled footage from Google’s servers showing a masked individual — armed, wearing gloves, carrying a backpack — at Nancy’s front door. That figure has never been identified. Investigators recovered DNA at the scene that doesn’t match Nancy or anyone close to her, but sources say the sample is “low-level.” Genetic genealogy testing has been running since March without a public breakthrough.

The early investigation has been challenged from within. FBI Director Kash Patel says his bureau was kept out for the first four days. The deputies’ union president attributed the first week’s failures to “leadership incompetence” under Sheriff Chris Nanos. The crime scene was released back to the family before the FBI walked through the door.

Two ransom notes the FBI calls “potentially legitimate” included details only someone inside the home would know — the placement of Nancy’s Apple Watch, a damaged backyard floodlight. The first demanded four million dollars. The second claimed Nancy had died shortly after being taken and was “buried in nature.”

Over $1.2 million in combined rewards. Thousands of tips. No arrest. The strongest remaining lead is a DNA sample that may or may not produce a name.
