Sifting the Dark Soil — Finding Gold in Pluto's Stationing

Something valuable is taking shape. Pluto's retrograde in Aquarius since May has been helping us to revise and question our desires, our views on technology, and our collective ideas about wealth and equity.

In this episode of Rooted in the Stars, I explore how Pluto's stationing direct is speaking to us. Through the garden, soil metaphors, herbal medicine, and the story of Orpheus and Eurydice I examine the teachings in the moment of how we can trust these final days of Pluto's journey without falling into anxiety or despair.

Pluto's name means "the Wealthy One," inviting us to consider the hidden riches of the underworld: seeds, roots, and the slow composting that makes new growth possible.

Together, we will explore the temptation to rush a turning point, demand certainty, or seek proof before a process has finished unfolding. I share questions for noticing how your desires have become clearer and what these past months have added to the soil of your life. What are you beginning to recognize, and can you give it time to emerge?

In this episode

- Pluto's turning point and the invitation to trust the timing of change

- Orpheus and Eurydice, and what their story teaches us about patience and not knowing

- Reflection questions about how your desires have changed and what has enriched your inner soil

- Two simple practices: resting with the earth and creating a "random as*" or harvest tea ritual with familiar or leftover herbs from your garden

- Black Cohosh (Actaea racemosa) as a plant ally for exploring release, shedding, and transformation

- Elderberry (Sambucus nigra) and elder's traditional connection to thresholds and seasonal transitions

- Music from Ayla Nereo's Hollow Bone, including "From the Ground Up" and "Show Yourself," as a companion for reflection

Join me as we consider what it means to keep tending our lives while allowing what is emerging to arrive in its own time. Like the life beneath the soil, something may be changing long before we can see it.

Three Journaling Questions:

1. How have your desires become more refined since May?

2. What part of you has been dredged up from the dark these past months, and is only now starting to come into focus, into the light?

3. If you think of yourself as a gardener tending soil rather than a single plant - what have you added to your own soil since May? What has enriched its texture, its depth, its capacity to hold life?

Two simple practices:

1. Resting with the earth - bury your body or feet in soil and rest deeply feeling the lifegiving nature of the dark soil beneath you.

2. Create a "Random As*" or harvest tea ritual with leftover herbs from your gardener bags of tea from your kitchen to trust the random nature of the universe.
