No Judgment, Just Relief: Protecting Breeders Facing Illness, Loss or Overwhelm

No Judgment, Just Relief: Protecting Breeders Facing Illness, Loss or Overwhelm Host Laura Reeves sits down with Stephanie Hentschel to discuss the American Pomeranian Club (APC) Breeder Assistance Program. This initiative delivers confidential relief and practical aid to dog breeders dealing with illness, death, job loss, health changes, or animal care overwhelm. Operating as an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the program uses regional coordinators and single-point contact routing to provide temporary foster care, dog placement, kennel cleaning, grooming help and food assistance without public judgment or stigma. By prioritizing early intervention and community vigilance, the program creates a discreet safety net that protects both breeders and their purebred dogs. "The big thing for us is we want this to be confidential... we don't want this to turn into a smear campaign on Facebook. We don't want this to be 'hey, so-and-so isn't taking care of their dogs.' No, we are trying to stop eating our own. Instead we need to be 'hey, so-and-so needs help.'" — Stephanie Hentschel Key Episode Highlights
