BREAKING: They’re Digging Up Bones Behind the Philadelphia House of Horrors

The property at 417 Chew Avenue belonged to Raymond “RC” Horsch, a self-described adult photographer and filmmaker who died in 2025 at 82 — before police ever knew what they were looking at. In a 2013 podcast interview he called himself a “perverted serial killer.” In 2014 he published a book titled Empathy: The Autobiography of a Caring, Compassionate, Empathetic Serial Killer, presented as fiction, in which the narrator describes killing women and dissolving their remains with chemicals. Investigators have since recovered chemical bottles and laboratory equipment from the home, and are examining whether a process called alkaline hydrolysis was used there.

The whole thing unravelled over a parking violation. In June 2026, Raymond’s 44-year-old son Eugene Horsch parked illegally near Independence Mall. A federal park ranger found two loaded firearms, handcuffs, a cattle prod-type device, a knife, a baton, and suspected drugs — and a woman carrying identification belonging to Blair Tonzelli, one of seven women now linked to the house.

Seven missing women. At least five feared dead. More than a million pieces of digital material, including roughly 600,000–700,000 photographs and 70,000 videos, with 58 women identified so far. Luminol testing and human DNA inside the home. Fifty-five gallon drums in the garage. A basement one source described as resembling an old-school science laboratory. And now the dig.

Eugene Horsch remains in federal custody on firearms and fraudulent-credential charges. He has not been charged in connection with any woman’s disappearance or death, and his attorney denies any involvement. Raymond Horsch was never convicted of murdering anyone.
