A Developer's Thoughts on Rivals

What do players misunderstand about the games they play? Death and Gaming joins Ghost Comms to talk Marvel Rivals from the perspective of a game developer and educational content creator. Drawing on 15 years in development, he shares what goes into making games—and why the changes players ask for aren’t always as simple as they seem. We discuss what makes Rivals work beyond the Marvel name, whether perfect balance actually makes a game more fun, and how the ranked system can reward habits that don’t help your team win. We also get into hero pools, ultimate economy, and the game sense that separates putting up numbers from making winning plays. Then, we tackle the community: toxicity, the responsibility of creators and pro players, and why young people in esports need better mentors. Plus, Death shares his advice for keeping your rank from becoming your entire identity. Subscribe for more Ghost Comms conversations with the creators, players, and people behind Marvel Rivals. What’s the biggest change you’d make to Rivals—or its community?
