Female Health Challenges No One Names: Matrescence

Female Health Challenges No One Names: Matrescence

In this conversation, Amy Taylor-Kabbaz names one of the biggest female health challenges most women have never heard of: matrescence. It's the identity shift a woman goes through as she becomes a mother, as real and disorienting as adolescence.

Amy spent 15 years as a journalist and producer at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Then she became a mom and couldn't make sense of her own story. It's a conversation about identity, care, and women's autonomy.

In this conversation, we talk about:

- The day Amy finally heard the word matrescence, and why she pulled over to cry

- Why matrescence is the biggest endocrine event a human being can go through

- What the Lindsay Clancy case reveals about fragmented postpartum care

- Why mothers haven't been silent, and who hasn't been listening

About the guest:

Amy Taylor-Kabbaz is the author of Mama Rising and the founder of the Global Matrescence Foundation.
