Why Didn’t Bellatrix Lestrange Make a Horcrux? - Harry Potter Theory

Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we're discussing Voldemort, Bellatrix Lestrange, Death Eaters, and Horcruxes. Let’s kick things off with a brief intro on Horcruxes:

“A Horcrux is created when a wizard takes an object and binds a piece of their soul to it. The purpose is immortality, with the logic going that as long as a piece of your soul survives within the object, then you can never truly die. It’s magic so Dark, so heinous, that it was kept a secret from most of the wizarding world. Yet despite many trying, there are only two known wizards to have discovered how to perform it: an Ancient Greek Dark wizard called Herpo the Foul, who created one Horcrux; and Voldemort, who mastered the spell and created seven. “

But, what I’ve always wondered is, why didn’t the death eaters follow in Voldemort’s footsteps and create horcruxes themselves? Surely Voldemort would have entrusted someone like Bellatrix with the knowledge of how to create one, wouldn’t he?

Dumbledore once described Tom Riddles school gang as “a mixture of the weak seeking protection, the ambitious seeking glory, and the thuggish seeking a leader who could show them more refined cruelty”. It was these same students that are considered to be the forerunners to what-would-become the Deatheaters that we see later on in the books and films. Deatheaters are pure-blood radical supremacists that cast unforgivable curses without remorse, and torture muggles, half-bloods, and blood-traitors alike. Death eaters murder people willy nilly, so it’s not unreasonable to expect that they would be willing to MURDER to achieve immortality. Furthermore, the death eaters were hellbent on maintaining pure magical bloodlines in the wizarding community, and one very effective way of doing that would be to remain immortal AS a pure-blood. So, is it just that the Death Eaters were left in the dark by voldemort-unaware of what it was that he had achieved- or was it that the creation of a horcrux was just too imposing. After all, horcrux creation was even too dark to be properly mentioned in a book ABOUT the dark arts.

The following quote from Voldemort suggests that at least some of the death eaters knew SOMETHING about what he had done...

Before You Boycott the New Harry Potter Show...

Before You Boycott the New Harry Potter Show...

Lately, the Harry Potter world has been… a little chaotic.Sure, there’s been plenty of exciting news — a brand new HBO series in the works, major casting announcements, and the promise of finally getting a longer, more detailed adaptation of the books. But not all of the news has been met with open arms. And one casting decision in particular — the choice for Snape — has been all over my news feed for months, seemingly sparking nonstop debate and dividing the fandom in a way I haven’t seen in years. And here’s the thing: it’s not a standalone issue. People don’t have a problem with Essiedu as a person or as an actor, they have a problem with how HBO have chosen to conduct business..Advertising a show as a book-faithful, and then turning their back on this claim the second casting starts. With filming just around the corner, today I’m breaking down the good, the bad, and the ugly — and making the case for why this series may (or may not) be redeemable.Let’s dive in to it.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Why Didn't Voldemort Use a GUN to Kill Harry? - Harry Potter Theory

Why Didn't Voldemort Use a GUN to Kill Harry? - Harry Potter Theory

Voldemort was the most dangerous Dark wizard in history. Capable of splitting his soul, flying without a broom, and leading an army of Death Eaters that would kill on his command. But one person he could never kill, no matter how powerful he seemed to get, was Harry.Of course, this was largely circumstantial. Harry was protected — first by his mother’s sacrifice, and then by the blood wards at Privet Drive. Not to mention the twin wand cores, piece of Voldemort’s soul inside of Harry, and the fact that Voldemort used Harry's blood to rebuild his body. They were, to some extent, inextricably tied to each other- and as the prophecy so aptly put it:“either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives”But if we consider for a second that every failed attempt at killing Harry was MAGICAL in nature, it does reveal a slightly more obvious solution: the NON magical alternatives.MUGGLE weapons.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Why Don’t Wizards Use Time Turners to Fix Everything? - Harry Potter Theory

Why Don’t Wizards Use Time Turners to Fix Everything? - Harry Potter Theory

In the wizarding world, few magical objects spark as many ‘what if’ debates as the Time-Turner. If it could be used to save both Buckbeak and Sirius, why didn’t anyone just spin it a little further? Why not go back and stop Cedric Diggory’s death? Or warn Lily and James before Voldemort arrived? Why not save Dumbledore, or even stop Voldemort’s rise altogether by sabotaging Tom Riddle’s past?At a glance, it feels like the Time-Turner is the ultimate fix-it tool, a magical loophole that should’ve solved everything. But as always in the wizarding world, things aren’t that simple.Today, we’ll be diving deep into why the Time-Turner wasn’t used to rewrite history, fix every tragedy, and (among other things) put a stop to Voldemort before his reign of terror could even begin.Let’s dive in to it.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
