#200 - The Soho Strangler - Part Four 'The Mysterious Death by a Lodger' (Soho, UK)

This is Part Four of Ten of The Soho Strangler.By the morning of Friday 17th April 1936, word had spread around Soho that 43-year-old Jeanne-Marie Cotton had been murdered; strangled in her own flat, using her own scarf, with no suspects or motive. It seemed like a random unprovoked attack on a defenceless woman for no reason. It was a case which would have been forgotten, until it was connected to an unnervingly similar murder two streets south and five months earlier upon another French brunette in her early forties. Was this a coincidence?Date: Friday 17th April 1936Location: 3rd Floor, Denard Manufacturing, 65 Margaret Street, London, UK, W1Victim: 1 (Jeanne-Marie Cotton, also Marie or Jeanette Cousins)This is Britain's least known and long forgotten serial killersBlog - https://www.murdermiletours.com/blog/murder-mile-uk-true-crime-podcast-200-the-soho-strangler-part-four-the-ordinary-murder-by-a-lodgerMurder Mile is researched, written and performed by Michael of Murder Mile Walks with the main musical themes written and performed by Erik Stein and Jon Boux of Cult With No Name and additional music, as used under the Creative Commons License 4.0. #195 - In Too Deep - Part One (Bayswater, London, UK)

This is Part One of Two of In Too Deep.Back in 1968, Flat 35 on the fifth floor was an elegant and stylish two-bedroomed apartment owned by newly-weds; 53-year-old stockbroker Michael O’Carroll and 25-year-old model Janet Williams. Being a secure home, these flats have buzzers, intercoms, cameras, porters and service bells to ensure the residents safety. But on 12th March 1968 - as many homes have - Flat 35 was burgled. It had been planned as a simple get in-grab it-and get out caper, so this should have been an easy job for the robbers. But being planned by a gang who were both inept and ill-equipped, their home invasion would turn from a hostage situation into a brutal double murder.Date: Tuesday 12th March 1968 (time of murder unknown, post 4:30pm)Location: Flat 35, Falmouth House, Bayswater Road, W2Victims: 2 (Michael St John O’Carroll & Janet Alive Williams'O'Carroll)Culprits: 3 (David Colvan Bolton, Michael David Ellis & Raymond David Cohen)Method: robbery, torture and strangulationBlog - https://www.murdermiletours.com/blog/murder-mile-uk-true-crime-podcast-195-in-too-deep-part-oneMurder Mile is researched, written and performed by Michael of Murder Mile Walks with the main musical themes written and performed by Erik Stein and Jon Boux of Cult With No Name and additional music, as used under the Creative Commons License 4.0. #194 - The Gay Panic (Kensington, London, UK)

1962, the basement flat at 17 Pembroke Court in West Kensington was owned by George Brinham; a respected trade unionist and chairman of the Labour Party, who was hailed as a Prime Minister in the making. And yet, there is no blue plaque to George Brinham. Some might say this was down to his political affiliations, others might imply it was owing to his love life, but maybe it’s simply down to a scandal which on Saturday 17th November 1962, led to his murder. But why was George Brinham killed, and did a quirk of the law let his murderer go free?Date: Saturday 17th November 1962 at roughly 10:15pmLocation: Flat 17, Pembroke Court, Edwarde Square, Kensington, London, England, W8Victims: 1 (George Ivor Brinham)Culprits: 1 (Laurence Thomas Somers)Method: assault and rapeBlog: https://www.murdermiletours.com/blog/murder-mile-uk-true-crime-podcast-194-the-gay-panicMurder Mile is researched, written and performed by Michael of Murder Mile Walks with the main musical themes written and performed by Erik Stein and Jon Boux of Cult With No Name and additional music, as used under the Creative Commons License 4.0.
