Hervey Medellin: “Hollywood Horror” | MURDERISH Ep. 149

This special episode is in collaboration with our good friends over at The Minds of Madness, a true crime podcast. On the morning of January 17th, 2012, Lauren Kornberg and her mother were walking a pack of 9 dogs in the direction of the iconic Hollywood sign in Los Angeles, California. As they veered just off the trail, a Golden Retriever in the group suddenly bolted off and started digging frantically. When the Goldie emerged from the underbrush, he was proudly carrying back something in his mouth …a bag containing a severed human head. The day before, 66-year-old Hervey Medellin had been reported missing. No one had seen or heard from him since December 26th, 2011. And as more body parts were eventually uncovered, the whereabouts of Hervey would soon become all too apparent. Best of MURDERISH - E107 "Nicole Montalvo: Like Father, Like Son”

When feelings for another person run deep, people are often inclined to see the best in that person. It’s not uncommon for unsettling behavior to be excused rather than seeing it as a warning sign and acting on it. But this idealism can put someone in harm’s way without them realizing it until it’s much too late. When Nicole Montalvo went missing in October 2019, investigators quickly learned that a lot was going on in her personal life and sadly, her circumstances were not all that unusual. Nicole’s disturbing murder led to three arrests and one trial. Let’s get social: Follow MURDERISH on Instagram & TikTok @MurderishPodcast. We’re also on Facebook. Chuck E. Cheese Massacre | MURDERISH Ep. 132

Chuck E. Cheese Massacre | MURDERISH Ep. 132

It was a Tuesday night at the Chuck E. Cheese in Aurora, Colorado when Margaret Kohlberg, 50, Sylvia Crowell, 19, Ben Grant, 17, Colleen O’Connor, also 17, and 20-year-old Bobby Stephens were working the late shift. They didn’t know it, but a man with a gun was hiding in the bathroom. When the mass shooting was over, four people lay dead and a fifth badly wounded. The shooter’s total haul was less than $1,600 and the entire manic episode lasted less than five minutes. Most shocking . . . the mass murderer was only 19 years old. Best of MURDERISH - E90 “Marlene Warren: Killer Clown”

On the morning of May 26, 1990, Marlene Warren was finishing breakfast with her son and his friends when she heard a knock on their front door. The 40-year-old mother of two wasn’t expecting anyone but answered the door anyway. She was greeted by someone wearing a clown costume and white face paint, clutching a flower arrangement and foil balloons. Marlene was delighted at the cheerful sight. Then, suddenly, everything changed. Moments later the clown pulled out a gun, aimed it at her face, and pulled the trigger. The bizarre attack left the community puzzled and horrified, at a time when authorities were ill-equipped to find answers. Let’s get social: Follow MURDERISH on Instagram & TikTok @MurderishPodcast. We’re bringing back a case where divorce brought out the worst of those involved. Past mistakes, love affairs, and previous marriages were all fair game. At a certain point, all of the fighting ended, but not in a way that anyone would have wanted. The contentious divorce proceedings came to a halt when one of the parties was murdered, or was she? Introducing COLD: The Search for Sheree

Introducing COLD: The Search for Sheree

Sheree Warren left her job in Salt Lake City on a mild October evening in 1985. She told a coworker she was headed to meet her estranged husband, Charles Warren, at a car dealership. But she never made it, Sheree vanished. When her car mysteriously surfaced weeks later, hundreds of miles away in Las Vegas, no one could say how it got there.   When a young mother disappears under unexplained circumstances, police always turn suspicious eyes towards the husband. And although there was distrust around Charles Warren, he wasn’t the only suspect when Sheree went missing. She also had a boyfriend, a former cop named Cary Hartmann, who lived a sinister double life.   Season three follows two suspects– men who both raised suspicion for investigators. But with two strong persons of interest with competing facts and evidence, it muddied the murder investigation. This season, host Dave Cawley, digs into the lives of these two men, the details of the case and examines the intersections between domestic abuse and sexual violence. The COLD team seeks to answer the question: what really happened to Sheree Warren?   Hey Prime Members, you can binge all 10 episodes of COLD: The Search for Sheree ad-free on Amazon Music. When this man suddenly couldn’t be located, his family wondered where he had gone. Did he use his lottery winnings to go on a much-needed vacation, exhausted from all the people asking for money?
