Mike DeBardeleben (Part Four: Unsub)

"I'll tell you what's going down. I had an ex-old lady who really pissed me off and f***ed me over. I just want to get back at women."

After his arrest in May 1983, the Secret Service began looking into the background of 43-year-old Mike DeBardeleben to determine what he had been up to. Agents knew that the "Mall Passer" had been counterfeiting and distributing his own bogus $20 bills, but evidence indicated he had been up to much more than that over many years, stretching back to over a decade beforehand.

As investigators nationwide began charting DeBardeleben's path through the country, they discovered that it happened to correlate with a number of other crimes. And coincidentally, Mike DeBardeleben managed to match suspect descriptions in not only unsolved rape cases, but even homicides...

The Con

The Con

This bonus episode is an interview with producer Patrick Lovell, who has been working on his new true crime docu-series "The Con" for the better part of the last decade. "The Con" is centered around the 2007-2008 financial crisis, which happened as a result of widespread fraudulent activity and the collapse of the housing bubble. The story is told through the lens of Addie Polk, a 90-year-old woman from Akron, OH whose house was foreclosed upon, ultimately leading to Addie attempting to take her own life... but that's really just the start of this never-ending story. In this interview, I chat with Patrick about how he got involved with the story, what avenues the docu-series explores, and how the recession of a decade ago might just be a taste of what's in our immediate future.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/unresolved--3266604/support.

However, what people didn't know is that during his prior stay at the National, Buchanan and several of his staff-members had fallen ill to a mysterious illness, which would return with a vengeance during his second visit a month later. The Night Watcher

Armed with a shotgun, a violent home invader has instilled terror throughout southern England. He would strike on-average every six months, always targeting wealthier families that lived in "secure" communities. However, just as soon as he emerged, he was gone, disappearing with roughly £7m in jewelry. In the years since, investigators have speculated that this man might have ties to the military, or might be connected to other crime sprees from the area...
