If you want to get the most out of your gratitude journal, you need to personalize it.

We may be over-exposed to gratitude these days, but it's still worth practicing. Personalizing the practice makes all the difference in how effective you are at reaping its benefits.

For example, many people like to keep a gratitude journal or do daily affirmations of things they're grateful for. I'm not sure that works for me personally—I tend to get distracted by all the beautiful things around me and forget what I'm doing when I sit down with my journal—but maybe it works for you!

So, how can we make practicing gratitude work for us? One of my favorite tips is to start small: while you're doing your morning routine, put on a song that makes you feel good and think about one thing from the day before that made your heart glad. It could be something as simple as a conversation with a friend or something as big as an accomplishment at work or school. Just take a moment to reflect on why this moment made you happy and bring yourself back into the present moment with gratitude for this experience.

We can make practicing gratitude work for us by understanding what the practice is and what it isn't.

Gratitude is not just a feel-good practice, although it does make you feel good. It's also a tool that can help us connect with others and ourselves, so we can build better relationships and be more fulfilled in our lives overall.

When we talk about practicing gratitude, we're talking about doing something every day—whether it's writing down three things each day that you're grateful for, or keeping a gratitude journal and writing in it each night before bed. We're talking about making this part of your routine so that it becomes second nature to look for the good in all situations around you.

Practicing gratitude can help build up your self-esteem and make you feel better about yourself and your life overall by reminding yourself of all the good things that already exist in it!
