Case 29: The Burgate House Murders

Case 29: The Burgate House Murders

The 80-year-old retired publisher Joseph Clever lived with his wife Hilda at Burgate House, a secluded mansion on the edge of New Forest in Hampshire, England. On the evening of September 1 1986, they invited their son Tom and his wife Wendy over for dinner. The following morning, two maintenance workers arrived to find the property engulfed in smoke.
Investigators rushed to the scene soon realised that fire was the least of the problems. As they ventured further inside Burgate House, it was clear that something far more sinister had taken place.
