Jacob Kiplimo of Uganda defends his title at World Cross Country Championships in Belgrade, Serbia, ahead of Berihu Aregawi of Ethiopia and Benson Kiplangat of Kenya. In the team medals, Team Kenya took home the gold medal with a team score of 19, with Uganda winning silver and Ethiopia the bronze. Australian men’s team placed 5th overall, as the placings follow:

  • Haftu Strintzos 23rd

  • Ed Marks 24th

  • Liam Adams 29th

  • Pat Tiernan 30th

  • Andre Waring (46th)

  • Zach Facioni (51st)

Beatrice Chebet also won back to back titles, leading a Kenyan clean sweep with Lillian Rengeruk taking the silver medal and Margaret Kipkemboi the bronze. Kenya thus won the team title with the lowest possible score of 10 points, ahead of Ethiopia in second and Uganda in third.

Paige Campbell was the top Australian in 31st place, with Melissa Duncan persevering in 53rd.

Abbey Caldwell won the Australian Mile Championship at the Albie Thomas Mile at The Crest, Bankstown running 4:30.50 ahead of Lauren Ryan and Maudie Skyring. Jesse Hunt won the Men’s Mile Championship in 3:59.09, outlasting Jack Anstey and Riley Bryce. Luke Boyes carried his momentum to win the 800m ahead of Peter Bol and Cameron Myers, while Jess Hull won the Women’s A 800m in 2:03.02 ahead of Imogen Barrett and Bendere Oboya. Adam Spencer ran 1:47.47 to win the 800m at Stanford Invitational, while Ky Robinson ran 13:35.95 in the 5000m, then followed up running 28:15.12 in the 10000m. Report via Go Stanford

Brad puts his biggest week of mileage as he continues his journey on the mend. Zoe Buckman won both the 5k and the Mile, with Olga Firsova placing second in both. Ballarat Marathon Results   Gen Gregson 4th 71:39 at the Gifu Half Marathon, Japan while Brett Robinson runs 1:03:42 for 11th. Japan Running News   Andy Buchanan 2:08:58 for 11th place at the Hamburg Marathon, elevating him as the 7th fastest Australian all time but missing the Olympic Qualifier. Ryan Gregson ran 2:18:53 while Ellie Pashley gave it a go in 2:29:58. The race was won by Bernard Koech in 2:04:24, and debutant Irine Cheptai in 2:18:21. Hamburg Marathon Results   Emmanuel Wanyonyi sets a new Road Mile World Record of  3:54.50 ahead of previous holder Hobbs Kessler at the Adidas Road to Records Adizero. Results via Let’s Run   Rose Davies secures an Olympic Qualifying time of 14:47.86 and third fastest all-time at the Suzhou Diamond League 5000m, with Lauren Ryan in 14:58.69, Izzy Batt-Doyle in 15:06 and Maudie Skyring running 15:12. Alemeshete Mekedes of Ethiopia won in 14:36. In the men’s 5000m, Morgan McDonald ran 13:18.65 and Jack Rayner 13:19.57 with Selemon Barega of Ethiopia taking it out in 12:55.68. Cara Feain-Ryan ran 9:31.68 in the 3000m Steeplechase. Shanghai/Suzhou Diamond League Results    Oli Hoare at Penn Relays 3:51.28 Mile, narrowly missing the Olympic Qualifier and coming second behind OAC teammate Yared Nuguse.
