In this episode, I interview, Kristen May, a Mindfulness & Yoga Teacher as well as an Engineer by trade. She vulnerable shares how she found mindfulness and continues to use mindfulness as a tool and practice to manage various cycles of stress, burnout and depression throughout the last decade. Kristen discusses how she uses her mind and body as a "laboratory" to constantly check-in and be curious about what's working, what she is learning and how to adjust accordingly. We also explore the different aspects of Metta Meditation and how this can be a powerful practice to work with.

Kristen May is the creator of maylovelight YouTube channel. Maylovelight channel provides a look into Kristen's mindfulness journey and invites community and self-discovery in a united platform.Kristen attended her first yoga class while studying for her Bachelor's degree of Industrial Engineering in 2005. This was when the seed of mindfulness was planted. After joining the workforce in 2009 as a Manufacturing Engineer, Kristen found herself under extreme stress, which led her to the practice of meditation. She has a deep passion for working with others to increase their Emotional Intelligence through mindfulness tools to train the mind. Since 2013, she has been consciously engaging in mindful practices and is now a certified yoga teacher, Mindfulness Engineer, and has attended several meditation retreats. In 2018, she was a speaker at the first Charleston Sol-Food Veg Fest. In 2019, she was a speaker at the Society of Women Engineers first Women in Industry Day. She created and presented a workshop at the 45th National Society of Black Engineers Conference located in Detroit, MI entitled "Mindful Engineering – Tools to Sharpen your Mind". She also teaches mindfulness to professionals where she works. In 2019, Kristen became a certified Mindfulness Facilitator and received her certification through the University of California Los Angeles' Mindful Awareness Research Center, Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior. Kristen is passionate about planting seeds of mindfulness wherever she goes and volunteers with nonprofits Empowered Minds and Inward Bound Mindfulness Education; which both specialize with teaching today's youth about mindfulness.
