Episode 82: Using Mindfulness on a Recovery Journey

Episode 82: Using Mindfulness on a Recovery Journey

On today's podcast, we are talking with Vanessa Klugman MD, ACC, CAPP about how she used meditation and mindfulness to support her on her own journey of recovery and inspired her to become a Life and Recovery Coach so that she could help others. We discuss how important it is to be with the "suffering" of life instead of trying to numb or run away from it. We get to slow down so that we can gain more awareness around a habit, notice the physical sensations and take action aligned with their values. Share your thoughts and takeaways with us on Instagram @OneWade and @Resilience_recovery_coaching

Vanessa Klugman MD, ACC, CAPP

I am a retired physician, and mother of three adult children. I trained as an endocrinologist at the University of Chicago and practiced for 22 years. I am a certified life and recovery coach through Crossroads recovery and am accredited through the International Coaching Federation. I am also a She Recovers coach and hold a certificate in Applied Positive Psychology. I come to this work through my own journey of recovery from an unlivable life.

I work with people who are ready to let go of habits and beliefs that are no longer serving them and create healthier, more empowering ones. These include habits such as problematic drinking, overeating and smoking as well as habits of thought like rumination, worry, procrastination and perfectionism. I meet my clients where they are with compassion and non-judgmental acceptance while holding them accountable for the changes they desire to make. My passion is to inspire my clients to live resilient and courageous lives.
