On this week's podcast, I talk to Jeff Takeda, a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and an active law enforcement officer, about how he uses his mindfulness practice on and off the job. Jeff shares his story about how and why he started practicing meditation as well as how mindfulness helps him untangle the mind from his thoughts/emotions/actions. Jeff says it is essential for people, espeically first respondeers, to train their minds as the mind is the command center and most powerful weapon. Jeff Takeda is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and an active law enforcement officer with over 20 years of experience. His assignments have included patrol officer, field training officer, SWAT team member, major crimes detective, and task force officer with a federal counter terrorism task force. In 2020 Jeff started Takeda Training Concepts, which provides meditation training to first responders and veterans. Jeff is a long-time meditation practitioner. He is a trained mindfulness facilitator through the UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center and a member of the International Mindfulness Teachers Association. In addition he co-founded a mindfulness program at his police department and leads a weekly meditation program for Veterans and First Responders. Jeff has taught meditation programs to physicians, federal law enforcement personnel, executive protection professionals, social workers, and community groups.
