Julie and Eduard Otter are a sister and brother team who walked away from highflying corporate roles to start up their own premium whiskey and vodka distillery (OCD)… then COVID-19 struck.

Julie is one of my closest lady friends and so I was super excited to get this duo on (not least as they make the BEST vodka I have ever tasted, and I have tasted a lot of vodka…) but as they had made such a fantastic career flip. But with any good cocktail that Eduard creates their story comes with an extra ‘twist’. Otter Craft Distilling (OCD) was in its earlier stages as a business; being picked up by elite restaurants and bars in Australia, were gaining serious interest from overseas and then won some coveted alcohol awards. Then COVID-19 struck and while alcohol sales went through the roof and straight into our lockdown glasses not enough people were stocking up on premium alcohol.


And OCD ground to a halt… that was until they quickly pivoted and started to manufacture WHO (World Health Organisation) approved hand sanitizer.
