Three years ago on my birthday, I was talking to Sharon Whitson the executive producer of Seattle’s HempFest and Sharon told me she was hosting two lifers. I paused and then asked her, what is a lifer? Sharon’s answer to me was that it is a person in jail for life without parole for the outdated prison sentence program for 3 strikes and the War On Drugs in the United States of AMERICA. The land of the home and the free/ Liberty and justice for all/ E Cannabis Unum. As tears began to rush down my cheek, I spoke out that on this day I will dedicate my life to filming and telling the story of these remarkable humans who are sacrificing their freedom for their beliefs in marijuana. And I was not a filmmaker before embarking on this journey. Now three years later Lifers my 1st in the Series of 6 Documentaries is ready to get this party started. We intend to end probation, through Film." A Cup of Joe radio show is hosted weekly every Wednesday from 5pm – 7pm PST by Joe Grumbine- founder and CEO of THSI. THSI is a grassroots, civil rights organization of concerned citizens focused on restoring the rights of those negatively affected by cannabis prohibition with education, active support networks, a legal clearinghouse and peaceful protest.
