Human Family by Maya Angelou - Inspirational Poem | Read by Simerjeet Singh | Powerful Life Poetry

Our next poem in the Poetry That Inspires series is titled “Human Family” by Maya Angelou, where she speaks about seeing the best in people despite their differences and how we are all basically the same.

This poem conveys simplicity & universal truth that all human beings are similar in nature irrespective of their skin colour, religion, caste or background. Maya Angelou’s words touch on unity and oneness of humanity which is a message that is very relevant in today's society where we see more division than before. Now it's too important to have each other's back. We all need each other!

Hope you have a great week ahead.
Regards, TeamSJS & Simerjeet Singh

Human Family

I note the obvious differences
in the human family.
Some of us are serious,
some thrive on comedy.

Some declare their lives are lived
as true profundity,
and others claim they really live
the real reality.

The variety of our skin tones
can confuse, bemuse, delight,
brown and pink and beige and purple,
tan and blue and white.

I've sailed upon the seven seas
and stopped in every land,
I've seen the wonders of the world
not yet one common man.

I know ten thousand women
called Jane and Mary Jane,
but I've not seen any two
who really were the same.

Mirror twins are different
although their features jibe,
and lovers think quite different thoughts
while lying side by side.

We love and lose in China,
we weep on England's moors,
and laugh and moan in Guinea,
and thrive on Spanish shores.

We seek success in Finland,
are born and die in Maine.
In minor ways we differ,
in major we're the same.

I note the obvious differences
between each sort and type,
but we are more alike, my friends,
than we are unalike.

We are more alike, my friends,
than we are unalike.
We are more alike, my friends,
than we are unalike.

Home and The Office - Inspirational poem by Edgar Albert Guest | Poetry That Inspires - Work Life Balance

Home and The Office - Inspirational poem by Edgar Albert Guest | Poetry That Inspires - Work Life Balance

People's poet Edgar Albert Guest perhaps wrote this poem somewhere in the early 1900s - urging his readers to draw a boundary between their homes and their offices. Fast forward to 2021 and the WFH scenario, I find his advice soothing and practical. This poetic reminder is our next video in the Poetry That Inspires series. I hope it cheers you up! Regards, Simerjeet Singh Edgar Guest offers great advice in this inspirational poem on spending time with your family at home, despite the pressures that might have been put on your shoulders at work. Home should be a place where you can let go of your worries and reminisce with the people you care about. Edgar Guest was known for writing poetry with a positive message about daily life. Listen to these inspirational words if you want to improve your work life balance. Home And The Office Home is the place where the laughter should ring, A man should be found at his best. Let the cares of the day be as great as they may, The night has been fashioned for rest. So leave at the door when the toiling is o'er All the burdens of worktime behind, And just be a dad to your girl or your lad- A dad of the rollicking kind. The office is made for the tasks you must face; It is built for the work you must do; You may sit there and sigh as your cares pile up high, And no one may criticize you; You may worry and fret as you think of your debt, You may grumble when plans go astray, But when it comes night, and you shut your desk tight, Don't carry the burdens away. Keep daytime for toil and the nighttime for play, Work as hard as you choose in the town, But when the day ends, and the darkness descends, Just forget that you're wearing a frown- Go home with a smile! Oh, you'll find it worthwhile; Go home light of heart and of mind; Go home and be glad that you're loved as a dad, A dad of the fun-loving kind. ― Edgar Albert Guest "Before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment, chop wood, carry water." ― Zen proverb “In the hopes of reaching the moon men fail to see the flowers that blossom at their feet.” ― Albert Schweitzer Watch this video on YouTube: https://youtu.be/CRiHrta5XNE #PoetryThatInspires #SimerjeetSinghPoems #HomeAndOffice #EdgarAlbertGuest #WorkLifeBalance #WorkBalance #FamilyMatters #FamilyTime For more information about Simerjeet's work as a motivational speaker, please visit his website: http://www.simerjeetsingh.com Subscribe to our YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/simerjeetsingh

My Soul Has A Hat - Powerful Life Poetry by Mario de Andrade | Recited by Simerjeet Singh | Poetry That Inspires

My Soul Has A Hat - Powerful Life Poetry by Mario de Andrade | Recited by Simerjeet Singh | Poetry That Inspires

It's important to define your boundaries and set your own rules. Safeguard your time, energy, vibrations, emotions and health. Distance yourself from toxicity, jealousy and negativity. And most importantly, to enjoy the journey; enjoy the little things along the way. Presenting our next poem in the Poetry That Inspires Series Brazilian Poet Mario de Andrade's "My Soul Has A Hat " Regards, Simerjeet Singh My Soul Has A Hat “I counted my years And realized that I have Less time to live by, Than I have lived so far. I feel like a child who won a pack of candies: at first he ate them with pleasure But when he realized that there was little left, he began to taste them intensely! I have no time for endless meetings where the statutes, rules, procedures and internal regulations are discussed, knowing that nothing will be done. I no longer have the patience To stand absurd people who, despite their chronological age, have not grown up. My time is too short: I want the essence, My spirit is in a hurry! I do not have much candy in the package anymore! I want to live next to humans, Very realistic people who know how to laugh at their mistakes, Who are not inflated by their own triumphs And who take responsibility for their actions. In this way, human dignity is defended And we live in truth and honesty. It is the essentials that make life useful. I want to surround myself with people Who know how to touch the hearts of those whom hard strokes of life have learned to grow with sweet touches of the soul. Yes, I’m in a hurry! I’m in a hurry to live with the intensity that only maturity can give. I do not intend to waste any of the remaining desserts. I am sure they will be exquisite, Much more than those eaten so far. My goal is to reach the end satisfied And at peace my loved ones and my conscience. We have two lives And the second begins when you realize you only have one.” ~ Mario de Andarde Watch this video on YouTube: https://youtu.be/zvgv0iDu7yA #SimerjeetSinghPoems #MySoulHasAHat #MarioDeAndarde #SimerjeetSingh #InspirationalPoetry #PowerfulLifePoetry #LifeChangingPoems For more information about Simerjeet's work as a motivational speaker, please visit his website: http://www.simerjeetsingh.com Subscribe to our YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/simerjeetsingh

Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep - A Heart Touching Poem by Mary Elizabeth Frye | Recited by Simerjeet Singh | Powerful Life Poetry

Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep - A Heart Touching Poem by Mary Elizabeth Frye | Recited by Simerjeet Singh | Powerful Life Poetry

This classical poetry is written by Mary Elizabeth Frye in 1932. She wrote this inspirational poem and scribbled it on a paper bag to comfort a family friend who had lost her mother. One of the toughest things to do is to accept and embrace your own mortality. Scriptures refer to our worldly attachments as the main cause of our suffering and fears. I want to live in joy and ecstasy like that rising wave in the ocean, who rejoices in the fact that to merge with the mighty ocean will complete her. This knowing sets her free! This freedom allows her to enjoy her brief existence, fully and fearlessly. Presenting our next podcast in the Poetry That Inspires Series - Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep by Mary Elizabeth Frye Mary Frye writes a heart-touching poem called "Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep," wherein she speaks of death in a welcoming tone. She comforts those who would be saddened for her at her passing and she appears to accept death as the beginning of a new existence rather than the end of one. This heart-touching poetry serves to offer comfort and reassurance to the listeners who might be listening to this powerful life poetry. In this inspirational poem in English, the poet claims that she does not sleep in the grave and that she can still with them in the elements of nature. This helps the listeners to realize that they will always be able to sense her presence, even though it is not physically there. To listen to more Mary Elizabeth Frye poems, please let us know in the comments section below and we would love to take up some of her inspirational poetry. More inspirational poems in English are coming up so make sure that you pressed the bell icon so that you never miss any updates. Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there; I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow, I am the sun on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there; I did not die. ~ Mary Elizabeth Frye Watch this video on YouTube: https://youtu.be/0oEjyCvvE-4 #DoNotStandAtMyGraveAndWeep #PoetryThatInspires #SimerjeetSinghPoems #MaryElizabethFrye #Poetry #Poem #Poems #SimerjeetSingh #Life #Death #Grief #MaryFrye For more information about Simerjeet's work as a motivational speaker, please visit his website: http://www.simerjeetsingh.com Subscribe to our YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/simerjeetsingh

The Road Not Taken Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same, And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. Will You will be what you will to be; Let failure find its false content In that poor word “environment,” But spirit scorns it, and is free, It masters time, it conquers space, It cows that boastful trickster Chance, And bids the tyrant Circumstance Uncrown and fill a servant's place. The human Will, that force unseen, The offspring of a deathless Soul, Can hew the way to any goal, Though walls of granite intervene. Be not impatient in delay, But wait as one who understands; When spirit rises and commands, The gods are ready to obey. The river seeking for the sea Confronts the dam and precipice, Yet knows it cannot fail or miss; You will be what you will to be! ~ Ella Wheeler Wilcox Watch this video on YouTube: https://youtu.be/rgxGr2iJWJA #Will #LifeChangingPoem #SimerjeetSinghPoems #PoetryThatInspires #EllaWheelerWilcox #EnglishPoems #Poetry #Poem #Poems Subscribe to our YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/simerjeetsingh
