Mel: An Aussie Freebirth Story

Well, you asked for it - more Aussie freebirthing stories! Here is the first of many to come!

After 2 previous birth experiences that were unnecessarily sabotaged by the medical system, Mel decided she was not going to be a part of that system for the birth of her third child. She was no longer going to do what she was told and allow the same things to happen again. So she decided to opt out of that system.

Mel speaks about the moment the term 'freebirthing' came into her consciousness and the healing journey of questioning and re-framing her 2 previous birth experiences, to awaken to the painful truths of what had unfolded.

Mel's medicalised birth experiences were so frighteningly similar to other Mamas; a non present Midwife, an intimidating OB telling her to 'get it done', internal vaginal exams, misinformation presented to her during prenatal care that was later absent on her file, a non consensual episiotomy, an unnecessary vacuum delivery, failure to progress - all the things that became unacceptable to Mel as a birthing woman third time round.
