General Motors LLC and Thornton Chevrolet, Inc. │ Undisclosed Settlement This week, your hosts Steve Lowry and Yvonne Godfrey interview Lance Cooper of The Cooper Firm ( https://thecooperfirm.com/) | Live from the 2019 Georgia Trial Lawyers Association Conference Remember to rate and review GTP in iTunes: Click Here To Rate and Review Case Details: In a special episode recorded live at the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association’s 2019 Holiday Workshop in Atlanta, product liability attorney Lance Cooper shares how he uncovered one of the earliest General Motors ignition switch cases in a case surrounding the death of Brooke Melton. Brooke hydroplaned while driving her 2005 Chevy Cobalt, crossed the centerline, hit another vehicle head-on and died on impact. Upon further investigation, Lance and his team discovered Brooke lost control of her car because her ignition had turned off due to a product liability involving the ignition’s low torque. This landmark discovery launched a nationwide recall of millions of cars and resulted in billions of dollars in penalties and settlements against General Motors.
