Sam’s spent a huge chunk of his career working in casting and Lola’s spent enough time in casting rooms to know what it feels like to bomb and fall flat on your face. This is an honest chat about casting, what it involves, we break down the difference between a chemistry test and a screen test. We’ll explore what stands out, what works and what doesn’t, and most importantly how to make the most of your 5 minutes in a casting room.

Director Alex Hardcastle’s 3 tips for actors walking into a casting:

1. Think about what the producers, directors or writers want and what they were trying to say. Know your audience

2. Take a stab, go bold. It doesn’t matter if its wrong. It’s better to go in bold and not get the part, than be wishy washy and be like everyone else. Go big or go home

3. Always turn up prepared, and know your lines
