#236 1984 – YEAR IN METAL

1984 was the year that saw the introduction of the Apple Macintosh, the launch of the Technology, Entertainment, Design conference, and the year the world learned of the terrifyingly destructive potential of A.I. courtesy of Skynet and The Terminator.

1984 is more than just the title of George Orwell’s cautionary, dystopian novel or Van Halen’s wildly successful 6th album. 1984 is the year that heavy metal began to intensify exponentially, including the continued evolution of thrash and black metal, as well as the release of “the ultimate anthem” that resulted in one of the greatest music videos in heavy metal history.
