Sarah Millson - Listener written episode

Sarah Millson - Listener written episode

Sarah Millson worked as a housekeeper for the Bevington Brothers Leather Wholesalers which was based in Cannon Street in Central London. Sarah mostly kept to herself and didn't appear to receive many visitors. That was why it was strange on the 11th of April 1866, a stranger knocked on her door and she said she knew it was for her. After an hour her friend who was upstairs with her went down and found her dead body in the doorway. Despite the time that has elapsed Sarah's murder is still unsolved.
This episode is a special listener written and researched episode and this time it comes from the fabulous Barbara so thank you so much!

On the 20th June 1931, Hubert Chevis was enjoying an evening with his wife Frances at his home in Camberley, Surrey. The newly married couple had hosted a cocktail party and when their friends left sat down for their dinner. The cook had prepared a Manchurian partridge and Frances carved it putting some on her husband's plate and some on hers. Hubert ate some of the meat and complained that it tasted bad. Frances agreed and they ordered it to be taken away. Not long after Hubert began convulsing and would later die in hospital. An investigation began into who poisoned Hubert and why leading to some unexpected findings.Important information provided by:https://www.findmypast.co.uk/ - all contemporary articles. https://www.peoplemagazine.co.za/real-people/real-stories/murder-lieutenant-chevis/http://www.unsolved-murders.co.uk/murder-content.php?key=106&termRef=Hubert%20George%20Chevishttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hubert_Chevishttps://www.truecrimelibrary.com/crimearticle/hubert-george-chevis/https://www.historicmysteries.com/hubert-chevis/http://www.thepoisongarden.co.uk/blog/blog030911.htmFurther Listening- https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0144pvl Punt PIIf you want to support the show on Patreon here is the link and thank you!https://www.patreon.com/theunseenpodMusic by: www.dl-sounds.com (http://www.dl-sounds.com/)Follow us on social media:Twitter- @theunseenpodFacebook- The Unseen PodcastYoutube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeX9lQupoivDexPioj0b9Fw

On the 23rd July 1983 Diane and her husband Robert drove to the local pub in Coggeshall in Essex called the Woolpack. They had a drink and then travelled home. Diane got out of the car outside her house while Robert parked the car. When Robert went back to the house, Diane had disappeared. 9 days later he walked into the police station and reported his wife as a missing person. This case caused a huge media frenzy where speculation was rife. Later discoveries however would call into question what really happened to Diane. Important information provided by:https://www.suffolk.police.uk/news/cold-cases-0/diane-joneshttps://www.findmypast.co.uk/https://www.eadt.co.uk/news/martlesham-coggeshall-new-details-emerge-in-diane-jones-murder-case-30-years-after-her-death-1-2292861https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-suffolk-39410004https://www.gazette-news.co.uk/news/8759497.new-appeal-over-doctors-wife-murder-27-years-ago/https://www.ipswichstar.co.uk/news/murdered-diane-jones-1-126181https://www.braintreeandwithamtimes.co.uk/news/north_essex_news/8759497.new-appeal-over-doctors-wife-murder-27-years-ago/Further listening and recommendation: The Outlines PodcastIf you want to support the show on Patreon here is the link and thank you!https://www.patreon.com/theunseenpodMusic by: www.dl-sounds.com (http://www.dl-sounds.com/)Follow us on social media:Twitter- @theunseenpodFacebook- The Unseen PodcastYoutube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeX9lQupoivDexPioj0b9Fw

18: Trevaline Evans

18: Trevaline Evans

It is our 100th episode this week and I have been taking listener suggestions for the case we should cover. The disappearance of Trevaline Evans has been suggested to me many times. On Saturday the 16th of June 1990, 52 year old Trevaline left her shop, Attic Antiques, in Llangollen and left a note in the window 'Be back in two minutes.' Sadly the shop never reopened and Trevaline has never been seen since. There were many sightings of her that day and the days prior but what happened to her has never been discovered. There have been developments as recently as last year in her case so there is some hope that we may find out what happened to her however we are still asking where is Trevaline Evans?Important information provided by: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rlbWImm_iE Crimewatch reconstruction September 1990https://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/mystery-disappearance-trevaline-evans-almost-16318987https://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/cops-referred-themselves-police-watchdog-16300415http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/1413759.stmhttps://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/11681596/Brother-of-antiques-dealer-missing-for-25-years-says-he-hasnt-given-up-hope-of-finding-her.htmlhttps://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/trevaline-evans-new-appeal-over-8445933https://www.denbighshirefreepress.co.uk/news/15761362.police-rule-out-serial-killer-link-to-trevaline/If you want to support the show on Patreon here is the link and thank you!https://www.patreon.com/theunseenpodMusic by: www.dl-sounds.com (http://www.dl-sounds.com/)Follow us on social media:Twitter- @theunseenpodFacebook- The Unseen PodcastYoutube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeX9lQupoivDexPioj0b9Fw (https://audioboom.com/posts/7503078-yorkshire-s-unclaimed/edit)

Margaret was waiting for her twin sister Ann to come around on Sunday 25th March 1973. They had plans to take their children to the beach that day. The time they had arranged came and went and Ann had not arrived. She knew something was wrong. When she went to Ann's house she was told by her husband Gilbert that she had simply left the house the night before and had not returned. She didn't even take her handbag. The police logged Ann as a missing person and quickly began looking for her. A search lasting over 10 years and a trial would occur but sadly Ann has never been found. 15: Brenda Evans

On the 7th October 1977, Brenda Evans was on her way back from her lunch hour in the area of Poulton and Pulford in Cheshire. 17 year old Brenda had recently got engaged, bought a new house and found herself a new job. 1977 had been a very happy year for her. She was a reliable employee so when her boss realised she had not returned to work that afternoon he told her mother. A search party set out along the route from her Aunt and Uncle's house to find her. They did eventually find her but sadly she had become the victim of a horrific murder. Mystery and rumour surround this case as the suspicion has always been that someone from the local community was the murderer.Important information provided by:https://www.findmypast.co.uk/ - contemporary articleshttps://www.cheshire-live.co.uk/news/chester-cheshire-news/detectives-review-historic-cheshire-murder-5197587https://www.cheshire-live.co.uk/news/chester-cheshire-news/cheshire-unsolved-historic-murder-cases-15124338If you want to support the show on Patreon here is the link and thank you!https://www.patreon.com/theunseenpodMusic by: www.dl-sounds.com (http://www.dl-sounds.com/)Follow us on social media:Twitter- @theunseenpodFacebook- The Unseen Podcast

On January 12th 1920, Florence Nightingale Shore boarded a train to take her to the seaside resort of St Leonards in Hastings in Sussex. This was a journey many people took every day but today this one would be different. When the train pulled in at Bexhill a couple of hours later other passengers would realise Florence wasn't reading or sleeping, she was unconscious. She had been beaten around the head with the blunt object. Who would want to murder a celebrated war time nurse who had only lived to help others? Important information provided by: https://www.findmypast.co.uk/http://ealingnewsextra.co.uk/history/truth-of-murder/https://www.nursingtimes.net/news/community-news/nurses-book-sparks-new-nightingale-murder-mystery-drama-21-12-2018/https://www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/9416866.strange-case-of-the-murdered-york-nurse/https://www.pressreader.com/uk/scottish-daily-mail/20181214/282260961555309 Further reading: https://www.amazon.com/Nightingale-Shore-Murder-Death-Heroine/dp/192663585XIf you want to support the show on Patreon here is the link and thank you!https://www.patreon.com/theunseenpodMusic by: www.dl-sounds.com (http://www.dl-sounds.com/)Follow us on social media:Twitter- @theunseenpodFacebook- The Unseen PodcastUpdate Description (https://audioboom.com/posts/7470348-laurence-winstanley/edit)
