#15: “Burning the Patriarchy” with Vixen Temple

Happy Venus Day, sex witches and mystics! To keep the Valentine’s Day vibe going, our guest this week is non-other than New Zealand-based sex work activist, burlesque performer, writer, and sacred slut Vixen Temple. In this very spicy conversation, Vixen Temple shares about her origin story becoming the legend she is today, and how casting a love spell at a sleepover with friends initiated her into her highest sexual self. Vixen Temple shares how sex work played a part in unraveling herself from patriarchal and colonial narratives, allowing her to burn the patriarchy within- and how living somewhere sex work is decriminalized has made this an empowering process. Vixen and Gabriela share what sex work has taught them about boundaries, and Vixen shares her story about becoming a sex work activist; something she reiterated includes advocating for marginalized communities, including LGBTQIA, disabled, and BIPOC communities.

Then, Vixen Temple and Gabriela get down and dirty with witchcraft. Vixen Temple shares the rituals she works with before and after clients to make sure she’s protecting her peace, power, and energy, and then she she shares how honoring Aphrodite and Lilith play into her sex magick. The two muse about power that comes from honoring the Goddess of Love as sex workers, and the conversation wraps up with Vixen Temple sharing about her solo show “A Strippers Guide to Strip Club Etiquette.” This was such an inspiring episode to record, and it really goes to show you that witches rule the world, and that sex work is work!
