From Vogue to Building a Business with Sylvana Durrett

This week, Arielle is joined by a fellow fashion entrepreneur and mother of three, Sylvana Durrett. Sylvana has long been in the world of fashion. She began her career at Vogue for 14 years, starting as the assistant of Anna Wintour and eventually becoming the director of special projects, where she turned the Met Gala into the megawatt event we know it as today. Then, in 2017, she branched off to start Maisonette, which in the last five years, has become an online destination for quality products of every kind for the little ones in your life.

In this episode, Arielle chats with Sylvana about her time at Vogue—from what it is really like working with Anna Wintour, to her decision to leave and start her own company. Sylvana talks about how Maisonette has evolved over the years, including launching their own in-house labels. Plus, Sylvana shares advice for those listeners out there who want to start their own company, telling us, "You have to be persistent. You have to be resilient. You have to trust your instincts.
