20: Sophie Rey

This week I’m talking to Sophie Rey.
Sophie is a Birmingham based yoga teacher and illustrator balancing teaching yoga with creating beautiful pieces of art. She especially loves children’s illustration and is really passionate about sharing and creating art for people, as well as helping them to find their own creative expression. I’ll ask Sophie how she does this, (even in the most creatively challenged of folk!) as well as what she gets from her art in terms of the creative output gives her. She’s also run yoga Nidra and art workshops, blending two of her skillsets together for her clients so we’ll find out if a yoga Nidra session improves people’s art output (or not!).
I also ask Sophie what led her to her first yoga class and then into teaching - she qualified in March 2018 - and what she did before becoming a yoga teacher. She’s currently teaching online too - a range of classes from slower paced hatha and Nidra to stronger vinyasa classes. At the moment she’s mixing her own zoom classes with working online for three local studios so we’ll find out how that is working for her and whether she feels it’s a good balance. She’s qualified to teach kids yoga as well and is also a facial massage therapist so I’ll talk to her a bit more about that too.
With restrictions starting to lift and light at the end of the tunnel, I’ll find out what Sophie is planning for the future as she prepares to spend more time on the illustration and art side of her business in the coming months. I really hope you enjoy listening to our conversation.
Sophie’s Savasana Sound is called Eyes Closed and Travelling so have a listen to that and see what you think!
