Queen Consorts, the Grey Sisters and Lady Cromwell

Queen Consorts, the Grey Sisters and Lady Cromwell

When we began planning episode 103, I don't think we imagined that it would be a themed episode. This episode we were fortunate enough to have both Elizabeth Norton and Leanda de Lisle on to talk about women, or women near the throne. Elizabeth chats with me about queen consorts (oh the fun!), and Leanda is asked YOUR submitted questions on the Grey sisters. Then I teach you a bit about Elizabeth Seymour (sister to Queen Jane) in A Brief History. And, as a treat to all listeners, everyone gets access to Elizabeth Norton's full answers in "IF I Made You Choose" this episode! As patrons you will now (after this episode) receive early access to the answers prior to the public. Discovering Kateryn Parr at Sudeley Castle

Discovering Kateryn Parr at Sudeley Castle

Sudeley Castle, the final home of Kateryn Parr and Thomas Seymour, carries a deep connection to their story. Granted to Thomas when he was created Baron Seymour of Sudeley by his nephew, Edward VI, in 1547, the castle became a place of both joy and sorrow. It was here that Parr passed away on September 5, 1548, shortly after giving birth to their daughter. Kateryn Parr is unique among Henry VIII's wives, as she is the only one to be honored with a magnificent tomb, complete with a stunning effigy. Discover more about the last place she called home and the events that unfolded after her passing. Footsteps of Cromwell: The Miles Brothers' Illustrated Exploration

Footsteps of Cromwell: The Miles Brothers' Illustrated Exploration

One of the absolute highlights of my trip to England was spending time with Ben and George Miles. They were such a blast that I just had to sit down with them for a chat. You might know Ben Miles from The Crown or Napoleon, but he’s also renowned for his portrayal of Thomas Cromwell in Hilary Mantel's stage adaptation of her trilogy. George, an incredibly talented photographer, is someone I wish more people knew about. In this episode, we dive into their journey of creating the book, exploring the very places where Cromwell once walked, and discussing both Tudor history and the broader history of England. --- The Wolf Hall Picture Book -- Credits: Host: Rebecca Larson Guests: Ben and George Miles

Through the Ruins: Unveiling Berry Pomeroy Castle's Past

**Best viewed as video! Available on YouTube and Spotify. I had the privilege of visiting the ruins of Berry Pomeroy Castle in England, a site with a fascinating history that piqued my interest, particularly because it was originally purchased by Edward Seymour, the 1st Duke of Somerset and Lord Protector. During my visit, I was fortunate to receive a guided tour and an in-depth history lesson on this remarkable piece of English heritage. A special thanks to Erik from English Heritage for providing such a detailed and informative tour of Berry Pomeroy Castle. https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/places/berry-pomeroy-castle/ -- Looking for a commercial-free experience, early access, exclusive content and more?
