Death of Titanic - Part 1 (w/ guest Adam Stolfo) | Scene 35
The first episode of the new year is here! Happy 2024! We hope you all had a lovely holiday season! And now... We begin the final stretch of new episodes. For this scene, we chat with Adam Stolfo. A fellow Titanic fan, lover of film, and podcaster among many other things. We discuss one of his favorite scenes, the first part of the death of Titanic. Some talking points include: interesting musical cues and sound design, character motivations, some great (and dodgy) CGI, and of course... the infamous Propeller Guy. At The Stern | Scene 34
This is our last scene before the official "Death of Titanic." We're truly closing in on the end now as Jack and Rose make it to the stern of the ship, where they'll spend their final moments together on Titanic. In this episode we read two listener emails, share nostalgic love for the movie, highlight some musical cues, analyze a couple of lines of dialogue (including another deleted one!), and more of course! Shattered Dreams | Scene 33
Some technical difficulties, a few scheduling conflicts and two sicknesses later... We bring you Scene 33! In this episode we discuss the scene that truly kicks off the last 5 minutes (in-universe time) of Titanic's tragic sinking. We cover: Captain Smith's final scene, Fabrizo's death (and deleted/alternate death!!!), the flooding of the grand staircase, promotion of Titanic in the 90s, a dumb internet joke... and more! Nearer My God To Thee (with guest Raf Avila) | Scene 32
In this episode we break down the incredible sequence that is the "Nearer My God To Thee" montage -- with special guest Raf Avila, a.k.a. The Titanic Guy! It was so great speaking with Raf about this emotional, stand-out moment. He also shares his Titanic origin story with us and provides great facts throughout, as per usual! Hope you enjoy our discussion! Questions of Character | Scene 31
In this episode we cover Cal's slimy but successful attempt at getting on a lifeboat, and Mr. Andrews' & Captain Smith's final moments... among other things! Note: The "Approach To the New World" painting by Norman Wilkinson was actually in the first class smoking room on the Olympic! It was featured in A Night To Remember because there was no available print of "Plymouth Harbour" at the time. A full-size reproduction was eventually made, and this is the version we see in James Cameron's Titanic! A bit of a short episode this week, but we hope it suffices! Our next one features another awesome guest! Excited to share it with you all. Your Money Can't Save You | Scene 30
Warning that this episode heavily discusses Officer Murdoch's death by suicide and the controversy, background and possible character motivations related to it. We've marked the episode as explicit to be safe according to our podcast distributor's guidelines regarding sensitive topics. We also take some time to comment on the OceanGate Titan tragedy at the top of the episode before reading some listener emails and discussing the scene. Swept Away (with guest Eddie Green) | Scene 29
In today's episode, we chat with James Cameron fan Eddie Green about his favorite scene in the movie! Jack and Rose are trapped below decks again, attempt to save a child, run from a massive wave and make it through a locked gate in the nick of time! We discuss a lengthy deleted scene, Eddie's love of The Terminator, awkward CGI face replacements, crazy stunts in frigid water, some slight changes from screenplay to screen, Avatar 2 comparisons and more! We hope you enjoy this episode that was 4 years in the making!
