Every sub-culture scene needs active and passive people

Every sub-culture scene needs active and passive people

In E 49 AA gets nostalgic and looks back at those formative years when you knew you wanted to be actively part of a sub culture, whether it was joining a band, organising a show, making a fanzine, writing to bands and how a few events recently made him think how do sub cultures survive moving forward? where do people meet, rehearse, form bands and play? Partly inspired by an intimate rehearsal and partly inspired by a documentary about the Minneapolis hardcore scene and the band Husker Du. This ones only music! and what can we do to try and help scenes/sub cultures survive the anti human world we might be sleepwalking into.

Lies sell but who's buyin...?

Lies sell but who's buyin...?

In E 62 AA makes some questionable attempts at comedy, does a few silly voices but eventually settles into contemplating the potential truth of the lab leak hypothesis and what this means for the whole mainstream narrative of the last 18 months. Where wagons circled, lies spun and hoods winked? it certainly seems so, but does anyone care? The musical waffle returns next week!!Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/agitators-anonymous-the-alan-averill-podcast. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

a chat w/ Chuck Keller (Order from Chaos/Ares Kingdom/Vupecula)

E 61 is a chat with Chuck Keller of Order from Chaos/Ares Kingdom/Vupecula fame, AA has been sitting on this one for a while and it was about goddamn time it was released!!! Chuck played on one of my fave records of all time "Stillbirth Machine' and one of my fave bands of all time Order from Chaos so it was great to chat about that, the old underground, Chuck was also a great friend of Quorthon from Bathory so we get into that, American politics with some great insights as CK is a learned historian and all round great conversation partner!!! Have at it.......Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/agitators-anonymous-the-alan-averill-podcast. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

What happened to rock/metal in the mainstream?

What happened to rock/metal in the mainstream?

In E 60 AA considers the whys and wherefores of rock n roll having little or no impact in mainstream music anymore, from the 70s and 80s hard rock bands that ruled the roost to its collapse under it's own weight of excess and hairspray in the 90s and conceded round 1 to grunge, round 2 to hip hop and 3 to nu-metal, arguably the last breath of guitars in the mainstream....why? maybe some reasons you might not have thought about, some banal and some extraordinary! and do we really care? Not I......Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/agitators-anonymous-the-alan-averill-podcast. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

I got somethin' to say....is it possible to be a Rebel today?

In E 59 AA discusses Glenn Danzig's statement that punk rock could not happen today because of cancel culture, growing up in an 80s WASP video, the PMRC....the original cancel culture strong arm of the law, why christian metal sucked, why woke comedy sucks and what are those crafty Belarusians up to? I got the FOMO blues

I got the FOMO blues

In E 58 AA considers the West as an indulged state of hypochondria, why some people seem to love when theres only one thing on the menu, how it's rationally impossible there is only one narrative to anything under the sun but why some people cling to that religiously, why people reach for the term conspiracy theory sometimes as an intellectual get out of jail card in order to not think about things or debate, the emotional lottery of lockdown and why we are all victims of spin! ....all I wanted was a Pepsi!!!! What is it like to travel and play music at a streaming event in 2021?

in E 56 AA looks back on taking part in the Roadburn redux online streaming event. What was that like? standing on stage once again, playing music with other people in real life together in a room? Lessons learned from the trip, what does this tell us about the future of the live music industry? This is what AA tries to get to the point of in Episode 56.
