Barney, the popular purple dinosaur from the 90’s hit show “Barney & Friends,” is set to be relaunched by Mattel later this year. The relaunch will include television, film, and YouTube content, as well as music, kids’ products, and even apparel for adult fans. The new animated series, which has not been titled, is set to debut in 2024 and will be produced by Nelvana for preschool kids. The show will feature the lovable T-rex and friends and focus on themes of love, community, and encouragement. In 2019, Mattel had announced plans for a live-action Barney movie, but it remains unclear how that might factor into the current relaunch.

Paramount Network, Paramount Global, and Taylor Sheridan, the co-creator and showrunner of the TV series “Yellowstone,” are planning to end the show but are considering a franchise extension to continue the “Dutton Saga.” Matthew McConaughey is in talks to star in the new show, and it is expected that some of the prominent cast members will also move to the new series. Paramount Network has declined Costner’s recent proposal for shooting his parts in a week and decided to move on to the new show.
