21: The Chessboard Killer, Alexander Pichushkin | Russia

Russian serial killer, Alexander Pichushkin killed 48, but possibly as many as 60 people between 1992 and 2006. He initially said that his aim was to kill 64 people, one for every square on a chessboard. Later he recanted his statement, saying that, had he not been caught, he would have carried on killing indefinitely. Had he filled all the squares on one board with victims, he would simply have gone out and bought another board to fill. Before he was caught, he was known as the Bitsevsky Park Maniac. After police found his marked chessboard, however, he was renamed: The Chessboard Killer. For pictures and more information, join us on Facebook Want to become a Patron of the podcast?
