#49 “I was detained during the Martial Law”

What happened during the Martial Law era now seems to be a debate rather than a depiction of actual facts. I learned most of my Martial Law knowledge from my parents’ stories. It wasn’t really discussed in school and our nation seems to have forgotten its greatest tragedy in the past 50 years. This episode enters unchartered territories as I’ve often shied away from talks about politics but even if I’m scared, I believe this conversation needs to be heard by this generation. For this episode, my guest, whose name and face will remain hidden for security reasons (I know, I’m also shocked that we even have to do this) was detained back in 1972 and he joins me for a conversation between generations to talk about his experiences. Listen intently, LEARN, and let’s not repeat the same mistakes. I would like to thank the Ateneo Martial Law Museum for making this episode possible. 0:00 2:19 - Getting Detained 10:45 - Getting Tortured 24:09 - Fort Bonifacio 26:27 - Camp Crame 29:08 - Luckiest break 35:47- “After you were released, the military owns you.” 1:04 - Meeting Bongbong Marcos 1:15:17 - What now? 1:21:00 - Parents’ tragedy #AntonOnOnePodcast #MartialLaw #PhilippineHistory #Stories
