Jacob’s Blessing, Montfort Tells Us, Parallels Our Devotion to Our Blessed Mother

Jacob’s Blessing, Montfort Tells Us, Parallels Our Devotion to Our Blessed Mother In the first reading (not included within this audio), we hear about brothers Esau and Jacob. These brothers are the children of Isaac, the son of Abraham. In the Homily we hear more about Esau, who loved hunting. We also hear about his character. One of his characteristics was he was not always pleasing to his mother. He was an outdoorsman, who hunted and wandered the lands. Jacob was a gentle boy, in complete contrast to Esau. He was always at home and was always ready to listen to the advice of his mother. He does what his mother tells him. Esau also enjoyed his food. He ate a lot. One day he asked his brother for food, as he was very hungry. Esau will give anything for a bit of food. He gave up his birth right to obtain the food. The story, at first glance, may appear as just a story of little consequence to us. But this is not the case if it is explored deeply. Montfort teaches us about this story . . . the life of the chosen one. The life of the elect. The life of those that are chosen because of their love of Our Blessed Mother. This story parallels Our Devotion To Our Lady, Montfort tells us. This story also tells us about the senile, and those that will lose their blessings, that in a real sense was meant for them. Listen to this story of Esau and Jacob and how Jacob’s Blessing, Montfort Tells Us, Parallels Our Devotion to Our Blessed Mother. Listen to this Meditation Media and Homily. *********************** Fr. Jacob Otieno, SMM, is a Montfort Missionary priest from Kenya, and he graciously offers his Gospel reflections.
