Reimagining Opioid-Related Incidents: Massachusetts EMS Takes a New Approach

There is no doubt EMS providers are caring for an increase in opioid-related incidents in the United States and worldwide, leading to compassion fatigue and burnout. However, little is known about these patient encounters beyond the fact that they are increasing. Join us for the next PCRF Journal Club as we review a 7-year study aimed at redefining and categorizing these opioid-related incidents utilizing a validated algorithm with the goal of helping EMS providers better understand the nature of these incidents, improve their ability to respond effectively and inform public health strategies to address the opioid epidemic.
