This documentary on Netflix addresses the Cambridge Analytica issues and how they were able to identify certain people that were swing votes, and target them with the proper ads. Essentially what they did is they used a quiz to identify personality types in individuals, and from that quiz data they received access to information about the quiz takers’ friends and family as well. Can this form of marketing be dangerous when used in a political arena? Yes. Are there positive examples of this type of marketing being used elsewhere? Also, yes.
