Welcome to Episode 1213, in which Cynthia Chaplin interviews Dr. Rebecca Lawrence, in this installment of Voices, on the Italian Wine Podcast. More about today’s guest: Rebecca has been in the industry since 2017 when she begged her local retailer to take her on whilst tackling the WSET exams. Previously she had worked in a number of seemingly random positions after a career in academia was scuppered by a recession and people being somewhat skeptical of her doctorate in Psychotopography (an incredible niche part of architectural theory!). The thing that drew her to wine was that it was geeky like academia, but also fun and completely varied. When she discovered she could combine her academic background with wine through teaching the WSET qualifications, helping other people develop educational programmes and writing, it all suddenly clicked for her. Rebecca now happily lives in Verona, with her husband and 2 cats. She became the Head of Editorial for Cru Luv Selections in 2021, working alongside Jermaine Stone.
