He is married to Olivia and has two sons. After growing up in Sicily, he moved to Switzerland in 1988, at age 14, to attend the International School of Geneva. That year, his father Giuseppe, a trained chemist, founded Benanti Winery, reviving an old family tradition, with the intention of making fine wines on the slopes of one of the world’s most active volcanoes. Together with his brother, he took over the family winery at the age of 38. That year, family divested other assets to focus exclusively on the winery. It was a decision they have never regretted. Built on the foundations laid by Giuseppe Benanti, and thanks to the vision of the second generation, the winery has a well-earned international reputation, with the aim of making Benanti one of the finest wineries in the Old World.
