Bavarian Podcast Works S7E7: Why Jamal Musiala’s Ballon d’Or snub is a big deal for Bayern Munich + Paul Wanner or Florian Wirtz, who’s the future of the club?

Bavarian Podcast Works S7E7: Why Jamal Musiala’s Ballon d’Or snub is a big deal for Bayern Munich + Paul Wanner or Florian Wirtz, who’s the future of the club?

Once again, a Bayern Munich star has been snubbed from a major award shortlist. Yes, that’s right — Jamal Musiala hasn’t made it onto France Football’s top Ballon d’Or Top 30. The longstanding agenda against Bayern Munich continues. Ribéry 2013, Neuer 2014, Lewandowski 2020, 2021 ... and now this.

Paul Wanner has been incredible for Heidenheim this season so far, and is starting to turn heads. The player might even receive a call up to the German National team soon. This could bode really well for Bayern Munich, who would be looking to replace the footballing legend that is one Thomas Müller.

Meanwhile, Florian Wirtz has also been tearing it up for Germany alongside teammate Jamal Musiala. This leaves Bayern with a lot to ruminate on for the coming transfer windows. And gives us a lot to talk about in this flagship episode.

In this episode, Schnitzel and Ineednoname discuss the following topics:

  • Jamal Musiala’s snub from the Ballon d’Or shortlist.
  • How much these awards matter for the club’s standing and attracting top players.
  • Musiala’s stellar form for Germany.
  • Florian Wirtz’s performances for Germany.
  • Florian Wirtz or Paul Wanner?
  • Would Wanner be the perfect Müller replacement?
  • INNN and Schnitzel agree on multiple things (WHAT?!!!)

Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show: Germany 3-1 Northern Ireland (World Cup Qualifiers)

Wow…Germany was on the ropes vs. Northern Ireland, but a strong second half effort helped Julian Nagelsmann’s team pull away for a 3-1 victory. It was ugly at times and desperate at others, but this was somehow a must win match for a squad that was absolutely reeling after getting stomped out by Slovakia earlier in the week. The Germans absolutely needed this victory and it could have been disastrous had things not turned around in the latter stages of the game.Let’s get into it. Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show: Slovakia 2-0 Germany (World Cup Qualifiers)

The German national team hit the road to face Slovakia, looking to get off on the right foot for this round of World Cup qualifier action. That did not happen. Julian Nagelsmann — as he is prone to do — did some experimenting with his lineup and it did not work as the team dropped a 2-0 decision. The players were bad, the coaching was not great, and it was not a banner effort overall. There is plenty to discuss from this match, so let’s get to it.
