Missing Witches Trailer

Missing Witches is a research based, feminist occult storytelling project. It’s sort of like Disgraceland, or Lore, except each episode is about a real witch. It tells some pretty crazy magical stories about women, and emphasizes women of colour.

Missing Witches is co-produced by Risa Dickens and Amy Torok.

We are releasing a total of 12 episodes for Season One:

  • Sundays, starting on the Sept 23 Full Moon and ending on Oct 28,
we’ll release 6 episodes that are scripted, research-based stories of
    actual badass witches.
  • Wednesdays, from Sept 26th to Halloween, we’re releasing “Witches
Found” episodes – interviews and spotlights on practicing,
contemporary witches in our community – healers, shaman, and a
dominatrix who makes a passionate case for sex work as magic.

We hope you’ll take a listen you’ll let us know what you think!!

About Missing Witches

Amy Torok and Risa Dickens produce the Missing Witches Podcast. We do every aspect from research to recording, it is a DIY labour of love and craft. Missing Witches is entirely member-supported, and getting to know the members of our Coven has been the most fun, electrifying, unexpectedly radical part of the project.

These days the Missing Witches Coven gathers in our private, online coven circle to offer each other collaborative courses in ritual, weaving, divination, and more; we organize writing groups and witchy book clubs; and we gather on the Full and New Moon from all over the world.

Our coven includes solitary practitioners, community leaders, techno pagans, crones, baby witches, neuroqueers, and folks who hug trees and have just been looking for their people.

Our coven is trans-inclusive, anti-racist, feminist, pro-science, anti-ableist, and full of love.

If that sounds like your people, come find out more. Please know that we've been missing YOU.

Missing Witches: HP Blavatsky - Our Voice Is Raised For Spiritual Freedom

Missing Witches: HP Blavatsky - Our Voice Is Raised For Spiritual Freedom

In this episode we sketch the life and impact of a woman who has been called the mother of modern spirituality and who was also one of the greatest explorers of the 1900s, though she’s rarely credited for it. She was a much maligned philosopher, activist, founder of a world religion that she never wanted to be a religion, just a means of investigating the wisdom of the gods - theosophy. She was one of the first westerners to convert to Buddhism, the first Russian to gain American citizenship, and the first western woman to make it into the sacred fortified himalayan nation of Tibet where she lived and studied for years. Probably. She was certainly fiercely independent, a chain smoking, not quite vegetarian, possibly transgender queer, celibate philosopher medium, spectacular synthesizer of eastern and western philosophy, yes I’m talking about the deeply divisive and intentionally elusive Helena P Blavatsky, HPB to her friends. Missing Witches: Marjorie Cameron - I Am That Dream Of Wings

Missing Witches: Marjorie Cameron - I Am That Dream Of Wings

This episode is about wild creation in the liminal spaces, and it’s about magical thinking and fate, and a remarkable artist witch who had to figure out who she was after the unthinkable atrocities of the second world war, and outside of a powerful man’s powerful idea about her destiny. A man who did the Babylon Working and believed she was the Fire Elemental he had summoned, and maybe in a way she was, but she was also and entirely her own self. Yes this episode is about Marjorie Cameron and Jack Parsons, and it’s about love and how we cope when we lose someone, and it’s about 1960s California and art and drugs and sex magic and becoming gods through art, and how the world changes.
