Nathan is an experienced After graduation with a B.A. in philosophy, Nathan entered the Peace Corps where he taught mathematics to 8th and 9th grade students in the West African country of Guinea. Having been raised in a middle-class, white American family, he wanted to challenge his assumptions about how the world really worked by seeing, first hand, how most human beings still live—in utter poverty. Upon his return to California, he immediately started taking classes in the Chinese arts of chi-gung, nei-gung, ba gua, and tai chi. This 3-year apprenticeship gave him a foundation in understanding how subtle energies work in the body. Later he met a Reiki Master who taught him how to channel Universal Life Energy (Rei-ki); Then he trained as a Life Coach. Finally, in 2002 I encountered Vortex Healing, an energetic healing modality that gave me a whole new understanding of healing magic, and upon which most of my healing practice (and personal spirituality) is based. VortexHealing is a very extensive healing modality, and even after eight years and over 1000 hours of intensive training, I continue to learn more all the time. Living in the woodsy hills of Oakland, CA, I spend my time volunteering as a math tutor at a local high school, working on a book, going on walks in nature, learning yoga, taking healing classes to expand my healing repertoire, and offering individual and group healing sessions.
