Captain Will Rogers found himself and his crew in a fire fight with Iranian assailants while operating the Vincennes. During this firefight a plane that refused to identify itself was coming increasingly closer to the Vincennes. The Captain had no choice but to launch a land to air missle from the ship. destroying the plane. As it turned out...the plane was an Iranian commercial passenger plane.
