Women in Translation with Intan

Women in Translation with Intan

August is the month the literary world celebrates Women in Translation! Only 3% of the literature circulated in the English-speaking world is translated, and some researchers say that of the 3%, only 26% are works written by women. On today's Shut Up She's Talking we sit down with Indonesian author Intan Paramaditha who is a woman in translation herself. We speak about Intan's own literary successes, the importance of stories without borders, and how crucial women's translated works are to decolonising the feminism, gender and education that we know today. Women in translation; Intan Paramaditha - Apple and Knife & The Wandering Jokha Alharthi - Celestial Bodies Duanwad Pimwana - Bright Who Intan loves to read; Tiffany Tsao - The Majesties Jenny Zhang - Sour Heart Sharlene Teo - Ponti Email: shutupshestalkingpodcast@gmail.com Insta & Facebook: Shut Up She's Talking Podcast Artwork by Lilico Matsumoto
