On the 19th March 1949, a gunman entered the manager's office and opened fire on two of the managers. The man was seen by a number of employees but managed to flee before being caught. It was revealed that sadly Leonard Thomas and John Bernard Catterall had been killed in the incident. The murderer had not managed to get any of that evening's takings and it was the awful fact was that the two men had been murdered for what would have amounted to £50. A huge manhunt ensued and resulted in a complicated investigation and a number of different trials. On the 20th of September 2004, a group of walkers were travelling along the Pennine Way in North Yorkshire. They had been climbing up the Pen Y Ghent fell when they stopped for a rest next to some caves called Sell Gill Holes. This is when they noticed something odd in the stream. They looked closer and discovered that it was the body of a woman face down in the stream. This would begin an investigation into the identification of the unknown woman that had come to be known 'The Lady of the Hills'. 30: Judith Roberts and Andrew Evans
On the 7th June 1972, 14 year old Judith Roberts set off on her bicycle from her home in Wigginton, Staffordshire. She had had a disagreement with her parents and had decided to go for a quick bike ride around the village. She set off at 5:30pm however a number of hours passed and Judith had not returned. Her parents reported her as missing and a huge search was carried out in the area. Unfortunately her body would later be found just a mile from her home.
